November 9th, 7:00pm – High School Football – Oak Hall (Gainesville) at St. John Lutheran (Ocala). Radio: AM-1230 Gainesville; AM-900 & FM-100.1 Ocala

2A OAK HALL (4-5) AT 2A OCALA ST. JOHN LUTHERAN (3-6): A year ago, this was one of the most exciting games of the season, a 69-61 shootout in quite a duel between Eagles QB Jared Armstrong and Saints RB Caleb Alexander. Neither team has explosive playmakers like that in this game, but Eagles QB/DB/P/K Danny Stirt is 20 points from equaling Leon Cummings’ career points mark of 248. Both teams are coming off one-sided losses to playoff-bound teams. via Gainesville Preps

Final: Oak Hall 54, St. John Lutheran 14

Dunbar at Immokalee

November 9th, 7:00pm – Dunbar Tigers vs Immokalee Indians. They are calling this game the “Showdown in the Everglades.”

Big showdown to end the regular season for these pair of district champions out in the ‘Glades as both teams gear up for stiff tests in the playoffs at home next week. Dunbar (4A-6 Champs) is coming off a 35-0 win over Booker for their sixth-straight victory, while Immokalee (5A-12 Champs) dispatched Golden Gate 50-7, rebounding nicely from a 12-9 loss to Barron Collier the previous week… read more at FlaVaristy

Deerfield Beach at St. Thomas Aquinas

November 9th, 7:00pm – Deerfield Beach Bucks at St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders.

Non-district showdown between Deerfield Beach and St. Thomas Aquinas. The visiting Bucks run of 13 consecutive playoff appearances ended in 2011 and the team features a collection of young but talented players. Junior RB Brandon Powell is the most accomplished of the 10 returning starters on offense and is the featured performer in the team’s Wing-T attack. Senior Brandon Bracy anchors both sides of the line for a defense that brought back just four starters from last season.

The host, St. Thomas Aquinas, has a dangerous gunslinger in QB John O’Korn (Houston commit), big-time linemen in Kyle Schafenacker (Connecticut commit), and Austin Bland (Florida Atlantic commit). Defensively, the Raiders are led by 6-foot-4, 270-pound DE Joey Bosa, an Ohio State commit. via: FoxSports Florida

Lakewood Ranch at Manatee

November 9th, 7:00pm – Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at Manatee Hurricanes.

Manatee plays host to Lakewood Ranch in the final regular season game of the season. Manatee (9-0) will be looking to extend a 21 game winning streak and hold onto the top spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings. With the playoffs starting next week, the Hurricanes have established themselves as the firm favorites to repeat as Florida’s 7A state champions. Winning their games by an average of 37 points, Manatee has rolled through their 2012 season without much opposition. Senior quarterback Cord Sandberg, the reigning 7A state player of the year, had another impressive performance in last week’s 51-9 rout of Sarasota throwing for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns in limited playing time. Look for Sandberg to spread the ball around to his multiple weapons on offense against Lakewood Ranch as the Hurricanes prep themselves for another long run in the postseason. via: PlayOn

Dwyer at American Heritage

November 8th, 7:00pm – American Heritage Stallions at Dwyer Panthers.

Heritage, the defending 3A State Champions, put together one of the most rigorous schedules they’ve ever had, and it’s only fitting that it closes out with perhaps the top public school program in Palm Beach County over the past decade: Dwyer.

While winning another state championship is the ultimate goal, it’s clear how much being part of the first undefeated team in Heritage history would mean to this group.

“It means a lot because we’ve been working so hard ever since I came here,” said quarterback Marcus Davis. “The seniors, we want to go out with a bang.”

Standing in their way of that though is fellow state power Dwyer. The Panthers have made four consecutive state semifinal appearances, with the school breaking through for a state title in 2009… read more here.
