Buchholz (Gainesville) Bobcats
Coach: Mark Whittemore
Record: 7-3
Key Players: Terrance Young (Sr., SS), Blake Mitchell (Sr., WR), Edward Cason (Sr., RB), Jakhai Mitchem (Sr., SB), Trent Whittemore (Sr., WR, FS), Isaiah Michel (Sr., WR), Camden Orth (Sr., QB), Terrell Jackson (So., WR), Noah Keeter (Sr., DE, TE), Roderick Jackson (Sr., WR), Samuel Holmes
Outlook: No. 2 seed Buchholz will take on No.7 seed Edgewater in a Class 7A regional quarterfinal after earning a playoff spot last week when the ‘Cats beat Santa Fe 56-21 and secured the 7A-District 3 title. In the ‘Cats win over Santa Fe, Jakhai Mitchem led his team with three touchdowns while quarterback Cam Orth threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns. When it comes to comparing Edgewater and Buchholz, the Eagles currently outscore the Bobcats in every quarter except the fourth. The Bobcats will take a home-field advantage (4-1 at home) against the Eagles (4-1 away) in a chance to move on to the next round of 7A playoffs where they could host Lincoln (Tallahassee), which defeated Oakleaf (Orange Park) in three overtimes last night.

Edgewater (Orlando) Eagles
Coach: Cameron Duke
Record: 9-1
Key Players: Malik Prioleau (Sr., CB, WR), Shary Jefferson (Jr., WR, OLB, CB), Lorenzo Jones (CB, OLB), Nathan White (Sr., DE, TE), Robert Harvey Jr. (RJ) (Sr., QB), Kyan Garham (Jr., CB, WR), Jay Ward (Sr., NG, OLB), Jack Howes (So., K, P), Christian Leary (So., WR, FS)
Outlook: The Eagles are steamrolling into tonight’s playoff quarterfinal against the Buchholz Bobcats with an overall record of 9-1. The Eagles thumped Boone High School (Orlando) on Friday in a convincing 56-14 win. After Boone recorded their first seven points in the opening 10 minutes of the game, the Eagles prevented them from entering the end zone again until the start of the fourth quarter, only allowing them to record one more touchdown. Now, the Eagles will prepare for a stronger opponent as they set off on a two-hour drive north to Gainesville to take on Buchholz. Both the Eagles and the Bobcats are frequent visitors of opponents’ end zones, so tonight’s match will come down to execution and proficiency. Expect a heated contest between Bobcats’ quarterback Cam Orth and Eagles’ quarterback RJ Harvey. Edgewater won last year’s playoff against Buchholz in Orlando, 31-21. If the Eagles win again, they would travel to Lincoln (Tallahassee) next Friday.
