Our Sonic Player-of-the-game for Tuesday, Jan. 24, is Christian Miller-Cardwell of the Gainesville boys’ basketball team.
The junior forward helped lead the Hurricanes to a 58-38 win at Forest (Ocala) in a 7A-District 4 game. He scored a game-high 23 points as the visiting Hurricanes (18-2, 6-1) built a nine-point lead at the half, 28-19, and cruised to their 10th straight victory, including a sweep of the Wildcats (11-8, 2-6).
Miller-Cardwell scored 12 points in the second quarter and seven in the third. He hit two shots behind the arc in the second quarter and one in the third quarter.
GHS kept pace with league-leader Vanguard (Ocala), who will travel to Gainesville on Thursday, Jan. 26, with the No. 1 seed and home court advantage in the upcoming 7A-District 4 tournament at stake.
