Sonic-logoOur Sonic Player-of-the-game for Tuesday, Jan. 31, is Christian Miller-Cardwell of the Gainesville boys’ basketball team.

Miller-Cardwell did it again, securing his third certificate in a week by scoring a game-high 23 points in a 66-55 win for the visiting Hurricanes over city rival Buchholz.  It was the 18th win in the past 21 meetings for GHS, including a sweep this season.Christian Miller-Cardwell vs. Buchholz

The junior, who earned postgame honors on Jan. 24 and Jan. 26, scored 12 of his 23 in the fourth quarter, with five of those points coming on free throws. He also hit two shots behind the arc in the second half for the Hurricanes, who improved to 21-2 on the season.

It was the 13th consecutive win for Gainesville, which is ranked second in The Prep Zone Power Poll. GHS will host the 7A-District 4 tournament next week as the No. 1 seed.
