The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Friday, January 15, was Jarvey Gainey of the Eastside (Gainesville) boys basketball team.
The senior scored a game-high 30 points as the Rams defeated rival GHS, 72-59, to win their sixth straight in the series.
Gainey single-handily outscored the Hurricanes (7-7) in the opening quarter. He scored 11 of Eastside’s 21 points as the Rams led 21-8 at the end of the first eight minutes.
Gainey scored 18 in the opening half as the Rams built a 36-22 lead at the break and never trailed in the game.
Eastside (13-1), which won its 10th straight game of the season, will host Bradford (Starke) on Saturday night.
