Williston baseball to host the Red Devil Challenge on Saturday, March 2

Williston logoThe Williston baseball team, which won back-to-back state titles in 2014 and 2015, will host the Red Devil Challenge on Saturday, March 2.  It will be an Alzheimer’s/Dementia Awareness day fundraiser.

The event starts on Friday night with Williston playing North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) at 7 p.m. The Saturday schedule is as follows:

Trinity Catholic (Ocala) 14, Chiefland 0 – Per Phil Kerber, North Florida Scouting Director for Prep Baseball Report of Florida, Celtics’ starter Tyler Owens (RHP) pitched four innings, had two striketouts, with a 95 mph fastball in the 4th inning.
Buchholz (Gainesville) 4, North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) 2 – Class 8A ‘Cats move to 2-0; NFC is the defending 3A state runner-up.
Trenton 12, Lake Weir (Ocala) 2 (6) – Tigers’ Wyatt Langford gets the win in five innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits, as Class 1A Trenton improved to 3-0.  The junior was also 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, a double, and two stolen bases.  Junior Wyatt Duthu was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and sophomore Jacob Guthrie was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
Williston 7, Belleview 1 – Class 1A Red Devils (2-1) scored five in the fifth to secure the win against the Class 6A Rattlers
