Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Thursday, Oct. 27 – Creed Whittemore (Buchholz)

Published:

The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Thursday, Oct. 27, was Creed Whittemore of the Buchholz football team.

It took Whittemore only three plays to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard on Senior Night. His 39-yard touchdown pass to fellow senior Jaren Hamilton gave Buchholz a lead it would never relinquish.

The Mississippi State commit accounted for six touchdowns in a 49-35 win against visiting Fleming Island (Orange Park) in a Class 4S-District 3 game.

“I think coming off an emotional and frustrating loss to a really good team, it’s hard being able to bounce back from that,” Whittemore said. “We came out and played hard. I think our offensive line played their best game of the season.”

The senior completed 16-of-20 passes for 315 yards and five touchdowns and carried the ball 12 times for 119 yards and a score for Buchholz (7-1, 3-1), which will travel to Bolles (Jacksonville) next Friday night for the regular season finale.

Every game The Prep Zone will recognize a Player-of-the-Game. The recipient receives a $10 gift certificate courtesy of Sonic Drive-In of Gainesville & Ocala.
