The Sonic Drive-in Player-of-the-Game for Friday, January 11, is J’len Wilson of the Gainesville boys’ basketball team.
The senior helped lead the Hurricanes to a 69-60 win against city rival Buchholz. He scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the opening half as the ‘Canes built a commanding 44-20 lead at the half.
It was the eighth straight win in the series for GHS, which improved to 7-8 overall. Buchholz dropped to 6-9.
Gainesville, which snapped a 3-game losing streak, will host Lake Weir (Ocala) on Tuesday, January 15, for a key Class 7A-District 4 game.
