The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Friday, Oct. 14, was C.J. Ingram of the Hawthorne football team.
Ingram threw a game-winning 35-yard touchdown pass to Darian Smith-Williams on a 4th-and-15 with five seconds to play as the Hornets stayed unbeaten with a 28-21 win at Union County (Lake Butler).
“He also had one like that against Orlando Christian Prep,” Ingram said of Williams. “He’s a huge playmaker for our team so I knew he would always come through when I need him.”
Hawthorne (6-0) rallied from a 21-0 first half deficit thanks to four second half touchdowns by Ingram, including two 4-yard touchdown runs and a 45-yard scoring pass to Williams on the Hornets’ first touchdown of the night.
The Hornets will host North Marion (Citra) next Friday, Oct. 21. The game will be broadcast on 106.9 FM “I am Country” and online at IamCountryRadio.com.
Every game The Prep Zone will recognize a Player-of-the-Game. The recipient receives a $10 gift certificate courtesy of Sonic Drive-In of Gainesville & Ocala.
