- Mitchell Wilbekin of The Rock (Gainesville) boys’ basketball team. Wilbekin made 10-of-13 free throws and scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Lions (33-4) to their first boys’ basketball state title in school history with a 64-56 win over Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville) in the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association championship game. The junior, who earned SIAA Tournament MVP honors, had a team-best 13 points and five steals in leading The Rock to an overtime win against Potter’s House in the semifinals.
