Thursday, December 18

Oakleaf (Orange Park) 78, IMG Academy (Bradenton) 58 – It was a season-high in points for the Knights. Senior Kevin Thomas-Griffin scored a game-high 21 points despite foul trouble in the third quarter. With Griffin on the bench for most of the quarter, the Knights (7-3) outscored the Ascenders 25-12 as freshman Nassir Little scored 10 of his 14 in the quarter, while senior Jeremy Brockington chipped in seven of this 14 points.

Creekside (St. Johns) 50, Glynn Academy (Brunswick, GA) 44 – Senior Jameson Powell scored a game-high 19 points for the Knights (7-3). Powell had five in the decisive quarter when the Knights outscored the Terrors (3-7), 14-3, to rally from a 41-36 deficit.

Gainesville 69, Miami Northwestern 51 – Sophomore Isaiah Wilson scored 14 points off the bench for Class 6A’s No. 2-ranked team. The Purple Hurricanes (9-1) used a 19-4 run in the second quarter to build a 33-16 lead at the half.

Union County (Lake Butler) 58, Bradford (Starke) 56 – Senior Alphonso Brown hit the game-winning three at the buzzer as the Tigers (5-5) defeated Bradford (3-8) for the first time under coach Rufus Jefferson. Brown finished with nine of his game-high 21 points in the final quarter.

Friday, December 19 

Miami Northwestern 58, IMG Academy (Bradenton) 51 – Junior Reynauld Lewis scored 11 of his 19 points in the opening half for the Bulls (5-6), who trailed 29-26 at the break.  They would outscore the Ascenders (3-8), 32-22, in the second half as senior Matt Bellamy scored seven of his nine points and senior Calvin Graham scored 10 of his 15 in the second half. IMG was led by senior Brandon Vicinus, who scored 14 of his 17 in the opening half.

Glynn Academy (GA) 51, Bradford (Starke) 47 – In a game that was close throughout, the Terrors (4-7) took a 34-28 lead in the final quarter and held on for the victory. Seniors A.D. Bradley (12), Xavier Vann Ellison (12) and Shayne Fallon (10) each scored in double figures for Glynn Academy. Sophomore Oliver Griffin had a tournament-high 26 points in a losing effort for the Tornadoes (3-9).

Gainesville 60, Oakleaf (Orange Park) 51 – Senior Jamichael Smart led GHS (10-1), the No. 2 team in Class 6A, with 19 points.  The Purple Hurricanes overcame an early 9-2 deficit with a 15-0 run and built a 34-25 lead at the half. Senior Kevin Thomas-Griffin led the Knights (7-4) with 12 points.

Creekside (St. Johns) 47, Union County (Lake Butler) 42 – The Class 1A Tigers looked prime for the upset against the 6A Knights as they built an 11-2 lead after the first quarter. However, Creekside (8-3) outscored Union County (5-6), 41-23, over the next two quarters to rally for the victory. Senior Adam Trethewey led Creekside with 12, while Union County senior Alphonso Brown had a game-high 18 points.

Saturday, December 20 

Bradford (Starke) 60, IMG Academy (Bradenton) 58 – The Tornadoes (4-9) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 19-10 run in the third quarter. Senior Joquez Ivey finished with a team-high 21 points, including 16 in the second half, while Oliver Griffin scored nine of his 19 points in the final quarter. Senior Brandon Vicinus led the Ascenders (3-9) with 21 points.

Glynn Academy (GA) 49, Miami Northwestern 31– Senior Xavier Vann Ellison (14 points) led three players in double figures for the Terrors (5-7), who outscored the Bulls 28-10 in the second half. Senior Matt Bellamy led Miami NW with 12 points.

Oakleaf (Orange Park) 63, Union County (Lake Butler) 39 – Sophomore Jonathan Bryant II scored 16 points for the Knights (7-3), who jumped out to a 34-14 lead at the half and cruised to a third-place finish.

Gainesville 62, Creekside (St. Johns) 51 – Purple Hurricanes win the title as MVP Ike Smith scored a tournament-high 27 points.
