The Ocala Quarterback Club has announced its first Watch List for the most outstanding football player/student/citizen to be nominated for The Scot Brantley Trophy in North Central Florida.

The basis of selection will be on a grading for qualities exhibited by Brantley, a member and leader on two state championship teams at Forest High School, All-SEC linebacker for the Florida Gators, and 10-year veteran of the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Those qualities include: On-field Excellence, Academics. Leadership, Athleticism, Commitment & Recommitment, Faith, Goal orientation, Character & Conscience.

A blue ribbon panel that includes former players, coaches and officials screened the nominees from high school coaches to authenticate their criteria for the most outstanding high school football player-student athlete-citizen in a six-county area.

The honoree will receive the Scot Brantley Trophy next spring to be presented by the 62-year-old Ocala QB Club and handed off by the former Florida Gator/Tampa Bay Buc/Forest High School Wildcat star himself.
