On Friday, the Belleview Rattlers traveled to face the Williston Red Devils, and oh boy, did it get ugly quick. The Devils used a dominant first quarter to jump out to a 20-0 lead, and never looked back on their way to a 48-7 win.

It was a good showing on both sides of the ball for the Devils, while Belleview was thoroughly dominated throughout the night.

Senior quarterback CJ Strange started off the scoring for Williston two minutes into the game. He hit senior wide receiver Jermon Collins over the middle of the field, and Collins took it the rest of the way for the long touchdown.

The rest of the scoring went to the running backs. Senior Quinyon Mitchell had a huge game, running for two touchdowns and a bundle of yards. Running backs Jacurtis Pitts and Lamonte Terrell got in on the scoring as well, scoring a touchdown a piece for the Devils.

Williston also dominated on defense all night. The only scoring drive for Belleview came on a touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Other than that, the Devil defense stifled the Rattlers all night. The effort included a pick six for defensive back Lashaud Nelson, as well as another defensive touchdown the next drive after. Collins also had an interception for the Devils in the game.

For Belleview, there really isn’t much to talk about. The Rattlers got dominated on both sides of the ball. The only positive was how explosive and slippery freshman wide receiver and quarterback Demetrius McCants looks. Every time he touched the ball he routinely made someone miss. As he gets older and continues to develop, he could turn into a dangerous weapon for the Rattlers.

The win pushes Williston to 2-4, while Belleview falls to 0-5.

Williston will be playing at Taylor County next, and Belleview will be hosting Eastside.
