Tuesday, Jan. 17, Sonic Player-of-the-Game – Trent Whittemore (Buchholz)

Sonic-logoOur Sonic Player-of-the-game for Tuesday, January 17, is Trent Whittemore of the Buchholz boys’ basketball team.

Whittemore scored a game-high 26 points as the Bobcats (9-7, 4-3) took over sole possession of second place in 8A-District 4 with a 50-47 win against the visiting Oakleaf (Orange Park) Knights (11-8, 2-4).  The sophomore was consistent.  He led the Bobcats in scoring in every quarter.Trent Whittemore_sophomore_Buchholz

Oakleaf led 32-28 at the half, but Whittemore scored 10 points in the second half, including six in the final quarter, to help give Buchholz their sixth win in their last seven games.  It was also the fourth consecutive 20+ game for Whittemore.

The Bobcats will have a chance to secure the No. 2 seed in next month’s district tournament at home on Tuesday, Jan. 24, when they host league-leader Creekside (St. Johns).
