PZ - square(white)GAINESVILLE – After a full month of high school baseball, Florida is once again proving it is a hotbed for talent.

A total of six teams from the Sunshine State are ranked in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings, including the No. 1 team in the country. All six are ranked atop the first all-classification Florida rankings of the season.

All six nationally-ranked Florida teams are state-ranked top three in their respective class in theprepzone.com state baseball poll for Week #3.

Orlando Olympia, the top-ranked team in 8A, Florida’s largest class, is also the No. 1 team in America, according to MaxPreps. The Titans (9-0) get their toughest game of the season on Wednesday when they play at Ovideo. The Lions (10-1) are not nationally-ranked, but they are the top-ranked team in Class 7A.

Lake Worth Park Vista (#5 MaxPreps) is second in 8A behind Olympia. They are also ranked just behind the Titans in the first all-classification Florida rankings of the season. The Cobras (9-1) have won nine in a row since a season-opening loss to Taravella.

The third best team overall in Florida is Southwest Ranches Archbishop McCarthy. Not only are the Mavericks (10-0) unbeaten and nationally-ranked (7th), but they are also the top-ranked team in Class 5A.

Lynn Haven Mosley (8th), Winter Haven (11th) & Rockledge (23rd) are the other three FHSAA member schools to be recognized nationwide.

Winter Haven (9-1) is ranked No. 1 in Class 6A, while unbeaten Mosley (8-0) & Rockledge (10-0) are ranked behind Archbishop McCarthy in the 5A state rankings.

The top 10 teams in the state overall are located in Class 5A-8A. Of the 10 teams, a total of three are in Class 8A (Olympia, Park Vista & Oviedo Hagerty) and three are in Class 5A (Archbishop McCarthy, Mosley & Rockledge).
