Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) unanimous top-ranked team for second straight week after dominant road win

GAINESVILLE — The Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) Conquerors liked the view at the top of The Prep Zone Power Poll so much that they went out last week and beat another ranked team, this time on the road.

The Conquerors moved to #1 in the poll last week after winning a 31-30 thriller over then-#1 Columbia (Lake City). Then for an encore, they turned right around on a short week and cruised past then-#12 Oakleaf (Orange Park), 51-22, on the road.

Trinity Christian (7-0) receives all 10 first-place votes this week and hosts District 4-5A rival Westside (Jacksonville) tonight.

Columbia (5-1) remains second after a bye last week. The Tigers return to action tonight at District 2-7A foe Atlantic Coast (Jacksonville).

Vanguard (Ocala) was also off last week and remained 3rd. The Knights (6-0) have a big District 5-6A contest tonight at home against RV Gainesville.

Robert E. Lee (Jacksonville) remains #4 after a 34-12 romp over Ribault (Jacksonville). The Generals (5-1) host a district rival in First Coast (Jacksonville) Saturday morning. First Coast knocked off then-#8 Baker County (Glen St. Mary) 13-0 last week.

Raines (Jacksonville) rounds out the top five again this week. The Vikings (5-1) rallied for a 20-14 win at then-#9 Sandalwood (Jacksonville), and host #15 Oakleaf this week.

Despite a 43-7 win at Deltona, Flagler Palm Coast drops a spot to 8th in the latest poll. The Bulldogs (6-1) host District 1-8A rival Spruce Creek (Port Orange) tonight.

Menendez (St. Augustine) also had a bye in week 7, but moves up two slots and back into the top 10 at #9. The Falcons (5-1) host District 5-5A rival Palatka this week.

Rounding out the top 10 is another team who was on a bye last week, Ponte Vedra. The Sharks (5-1) move up from 13th last week and are back in action tonight at District 4-5A rival Terry Parker (Jacksonville).

Baldwin remained undefeated and moved up four spaces to lead off the second 10 at 11th this week. The Indians (6-0) easily outdistanced Westside (Jacksonville) 42-0 last week.

Baker County drops nine spots to #17 this week after the shutout loss at First Coast.

Chiefland (6-0) moves into the poll this week at #19 and faces a tough test tonight at RV Hawthorne.

Also moving back in this week is North Marion (Citra) who is tied for 20th with Mainland (Daytona Beach). The Colts (4-2) won a big District 6-5A game at then-#17 Eastside (Gainesville) 48-27. The Rams (4-2) drop out this week along with city rival Gainesville, who lost 27-7 to #14 Buchholz (Gainesville).

Fletcher (Neptune Beach) also moves into the rankings this week at 16th after a 49-7 win at Atlantic Coast. The Senators (6-1) have a bye this week before a huge District 2-7A matchup with #2 Columbia next week.
