Columbia (Lake City) still No. 1 in the regional all-classification rankings

GAINESVILLE — The top five teams in The Prep Zone Power Poll remained the same.

Nationally-ranked Columbia (Lake City) was a unanimous selection as the No. 1 team in the all-classification regional rankings, receiving all nine first-place votes.

The Tigers entered their bye week with a 4-0 record. They are ranked 42nd in the country by MaxPreps and are on top of the Class 6A state rankings too.

Class 8A Bartram Trail (St. Johns) stayed at No. 2 after surviving a scare at rival St. Augustine, which is receiving votes in this week’s rankings. The Bears, who are 5-0 for the first time in eight years, held off a furious rally by the Yellow Jackets (2-2) to win 43-40.

North Marion (Citra) cruised to a 41-6 win against winless Gainesville. The Colts (4-0), the defending 5A state runners-up, secured the No. 3 spot for the second consecutive week.

Defending 1A state champion Madison County (5-0) is still fourth, while 5A Dunnellon (5-0) remained fifth.

A pair of Jacksonville teams dropped out of the top 10 after suffering defeats.

While Vanguard (Ocala), which was off, remained sixth, previous No. 7 Sandalwood was upset by Ribault (Jacksonville), 21-14. That dropped the Class 8A Saints (3-1) eight spots to No. 15.

Defending 8A state champion Mandarin, which was ranked 8th, lost at previous No. 10 Robert E. Lee (Jacksonville), 33-27, and fell five spots to No. 13.

Previous No. 9 Oakleaf (Orange Park), which improved to 4-1 with a 26-7 win against Ed White (Jacksonville), moved up two spots to seventh, and Lee (3-1) moved up two spots to 8th.

Flagler Palm Coast and Trinity Christian (Jacksonville), which defeated 4A #2 Miami Carol City, 42-21, are ranked ninth and 10th, respectively.

Class 2A University Christian (Jacksonville) (3-1) is back in the rankings at No. 20 following a 22-13 win against Class 7A First Coast (Jacksonville).

Despite a 42-21 win against Lecanto, previous No. 20 The Villages fell out, but the Buffalo (3-1) are still receiving votes.

The Prep Zone Power Poll ranks the top 20 high school football, basketball, baseball & softball teams (regardless of FHSAA classification) across 26 counties in North Florida (Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Citrus, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Levy, Madison, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, Sumter, St. Johns, Suwannee, Taylor, Union & Volusia counties).
