- Friday, September 28, was Boise Jackson of the Gainesville football team. The senior defensive lineman helped the ‘Canes record their second consecutive shut out against their city rivals in a 40-0 win at Citizen’s Field. GHS’ defense, which posted its first shut out of the season, was dominant. They held Eastside to just 103 yards of total offense and only three first downs.

- Tori Mantel of the Cornerstone Academy (Gainesville) volleyball team. Mantel led the Cougars (11-6) to a 7-0 week, including six wins at the Gainesville Elite Tournament at Oak Hall where she was named to the All-Tournament team. It was the first-ever tournament win for Cornerstone Academy’s volleyball program. The senior finished the week with a team-high 60 assists, 40 kills, 38 service points, seven aces, 65 digs and 11 blocks.
