Sonic Player-of-the-Game (Nov. 10) – Marquez Glover (Vanguard)

Sonic-logoOur Sonic-Player-of-the-Game for Friday, November 10, is Marquez Glover of the Vanguard (Ocala) football team.

Glover completed 14-of-18 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns through the air and added another TD on the ground as the Knights improved to 10-0 with a 34-14 win over Gainesville in a Region 2-6A quarterfinal at Booster Stadium in Ocala.

The senior got Vanguard going quickly, tossing a 15 yard TD pass to freshman Trevonte Rucker just a minute and 16 seconds into the game to give the Knights an early 7-0 lead.Marquez Glover Vanguard QB

He extended the lead to 14-0 just 50 seconds into the second quarter by throwing a 52 yard bomb to senior Debarre Jenkins.

In the third quarter, Glover fired a 17 yard score to junior Dakari Thornton to extend Vanguard’s lead to 28-7, then added a 1 yard TD run with 8:12 left in the 4th to give the Knights the final margin.

On the season, Glover has thrown for 32 touchdowns passing with only three interceptions while running for another six scores.

Next up for Vanguard is a trip to Mitchell (New Port Richey) in a Region 2-6A semifinal. Vanguard won 49-13 at Mitchell a year ago in a region semifinal game.
