The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Thursday, Sept. 8, was Beau Beard of the Trinity Catholic (Ocala) football team.
Beard had a 6-yard scoring run with 8:47 to play in the half for a 21-0 lead as the visiting Celtics defeated Gainesville High, 48-3, at Citizen’s Field.
The senior added an 8-yard touchdown run after a field goal and a weather delay, which came with 2:53 to play in the half, to give the Celtics (2-1) a 28-3 lead at the break.
