The Sonic Drive-In Player-of-the-Game for Tuesday, Feb. 23, was Dontrell Jenkins of the Santa Fe (Alachua) boys’ basketball team.
Jenkins scored a game-high 18 points as host Santa Fe defeated Eastside (Gainesville), 41-31, in a Class 4A regional semifinal.
The senior scored all 18 points in the second half, including hitting three 3-pointers in the third quarter as the Raiders rallied from a brief deficit to take a 27-22 lead after three quarters.
Jenkins scored seven points in the final quarter to help put the game on ice.
All of Eastside’s losses were to Santa Fe as the Rams finish the season at 21-3.
Santa Fe (18-5) will travel to Lake Highland Prep (Orlando) for the region final with a final four bid on the line.
