- September 2 is Zedrick Woods of the Columbia (Lake City) football team. The junior outside linebacker led the Tigers (2-0) with four sacks and 13 tackles, including two tackles for a loss, as Columbia defeated last year’s 7A state runners-up, Lincoln, on the road in Tallahassee. Woods helped his defense step it up, after all-state strong safety Trey Marshall went down with an injury, by keeping the Lincoln offense out of the end zone for the final three quarters in the 28-14 win.
- Thursday, September 5, was Naquan Howard of the Buchholz football team. Howard scored the first two touchdowns of the game as Buchholz improved to 2-0 with a 33-21 win against Clay (Green Cove Springs). The junior scored on an 80-yard TD reception just 23 seconds into the game and then added a 96-yard punt return for a score.
- Friday, September 6, was Corey Irwin of the Belleview football team. Irwin kicked a 42-yard field goal on the final play of the game as Belleview (2-0) defeated Lake Weir (Ocala), 13-10, at The Strike Zone. Irwin put the Rattlers on the scoreboard first with a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter and added an extra point in the second quarter as Belleview took a 10-0 lead at the half.
