Outlook: The Blue Wave made some progress under first-year coach Kent Johnson after a 1-9 season before Johnson took over. This year, they are ‘cautiously optimistic about being an improved team’ according to Johnson. They have some very good skill position play on offense and defense.
Barnes was second on the team last year with 72 tackles, followed by Patterson with 66 tackles. Plus, Roberts led the team with six sacks. So experience returns. A total of six starters return on defense and four starters return on offense. On the other hand, they will also have four or five new starters on the offensive line, and three of their four defensive linemen will be new.
“I still hold out hope that with the skill and experience of our skill position players, we will improve,” said Johnson.
