Our Sonic Player-of-the-game for Monday, March 13, is Danny Dawson of the P.K. Yonge (Gainesville) baseball team.
Heading into the bottom of the 9th inning of a tied game, the P.K. Yonge baseball team knew it had three more outs to try and post a victory against city foe Oak Hall. The umpire had already announced it would be the final half inning of play due to darkness as there are no lights at P.K. Yonge.
With the scored tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 9th, the freshman delivered in the clutch. Dawson’s RBI single with two outs gave the Blue Wave a 5-4 win over the Eagles.
Dawson finished 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and also pitched three innings of relief for the Blue Wave (5-3). He allowed one run on two hits with only one walk and three strikeouts.
Every game The Prep Zone will recognize a Sonic Player-of-the-Game. The recipient receives a $10 gift card & certificate courtesy of Sonic of Gainesville & Ocala.
