Gainesville defeated Santa Fe Friday night 35-6.

It was a very sloppy win for the Hurricanes. Tons of penalties on offense, and at times, bad tacking by the defense.

Senior QB Luke Matthews finished the night 16-18 for 271 yards and two touchdowns in less than three quarters. Jalen Kelsey also returned a punt for a GHS touchdown.

Defensively, the Canes forced several turnovers and harassed the Raider offense most of the night.

Gentle Hunt had a solid game and cornerback Jaylen Brown had an incredible one-handed interception.

The Hurricanes moved to 1-1 with a bye this week. They will take the week off then travel to open district play against an undefeated Lake Weir (Ocala) ball club.
