Florida’s #HSFB Top 25 state poll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Booker T. Washington Tornadoes (6-0) continue to show their dominance as they continue to keep a hold of the No. 1 spot on Florida’s HSFB Top 25.

The Tornadoes held a 38 point difference in voting this week over No. 2 Miami Central (4-1), which is being trailed by No. 3 Mainland (5-0) by one point after the Buccaneers got a huge victory at home over now-No. 8 American Heritage-Plantation (2-2) over the weekend.

St. Thomas Aquinas (3-1) follows behind No. 3 Mainland in the No. 4 position, while First Coast (4-0) moves into the Top 5 this week at No. 5 after being at No. 8 the week prior. Both St. Thomas Aquinas and First Coast had big wins during Week 5 action.

Rounding out the Top 10 include six teams with Dr. Phillips (5-0) at No. 6; Armwood (5-0) at No. 7, which fell one spot from No. 6 the week prior. Flanagan (5-0) went up one spot to No. 8 after being at No. 9 last week while No. 9 this week is American Heritage-Plantation (2-2) which fell four spots from No. 5 the week prior after the loss to No. 3 Mainland on the road. Niceville (4-1) and Apopka (4-1) are tied for No. 10 this week. Apopka was ranked No. 12 last week while Niceville as No. 10.

Clay (4-1) which was ranked No. 21 last week fell out of the Top 25 after falling to Clay County rival, Oakleaf (5-0) last week. Oakleaf received 11 voting points this week as a result of the efforts the Knights have made over the last few weeks.

Florida’s HSFB Top 25 is voted on weekly by sportswriters and sportscasters from around the state. Florida’s HSFB Top 25 is the only all-classification poll voted on through out the state during the season by members of the media.

Venice which has long been knocking on the doors of the Top 25 finally breaks in this week at No. 25. The Indians are 5-0 on the season and will start district play this week when the travel to Dixie Hollins on Thursday.
