The Williston Red Devils (3-5) were ready for their Senior Night. The Hilliard Red Flashes (2-7) just happened to be unlucky enough to be the opponent on the evening.

The final score ended up being 41-8 Williston, with only one score of the game coming in the second half. Williston secured a 41-0 lead going into halftime and didn’t look back.

With quarterback CJ Strange hobbled, and only playing a few series, the Devils relied on their rushing attack to fuel their first half explosion.

The Red Devils’ scoring onslaught was engineered mostly by running back Quinyon Mitchell, who ran for three touchdowns. Running backs Jacurtis Pitts and Lamonte Terrell both added scores as well on the ground, with two and one respectively.

Hilliard couldn’t get anything going throughout the game until Williston put in their second string defense. Wide receiver Benjamin Sharpe managed to score a rushing touchdown, but other than that the Red Flashes were helpless against a hungry Red Devil defense.

Williston needed this win, as their last two games will be against a 6-3 Dixie County team, and a 7-1 Chiefland team. Dixie is coming off a tough 41-7 loss to Ft. White, and will look to bounce back when they play the Devils at home this week.

Meanwhile, Hilliard will be playing at home against an explosive Hawthorne team that is undefeated.

Good luck to both teams this week. Follow me on Twitter for more Williston updates @tcole2025.
