Currently Scheduled Broadcasts for the Class 1A-District 6 Softball Tournament at Union County (Lake Butler)
Thursday – #2 Union County (Lake Butler) 3, #1 Fort White 1 (Class 1A-District 6 softball championship)
Join Mike Ridaught (Play-by-play) for all the action on 107.9 FM in Lake Butler as the top two seeds in the district played for the title. Union County handed Fort White (17-2) both of its losses. The Tigers (17-3) scored two runs in the 6th inning to break a 1-1 tie and win the championship. Senior Katie Zipperer ended a no-hitter by the Indians’ Morgan Cushman with a base hit to right field in the bottom of the 6th. Sophomore Teala Howard followed with a hit to left field. Despite the fact that Zipperer was thrown out at the plate a batter later, Devin Lewis brought home the game-winning run on a fielder’s choice, and senior Kaylan Tucker added a bunt single RBI. Sophomore Lexi Androlevich retired the side in order in the top of the seventh and picked up the win in the circle by pitching a complete-game with no walks and just one run allowed on two hits.

The Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to advance. Junior Rachel Duckworth (16-6) got the win in the circle by giving up just one run in five innings pitched. Tuesday – #2 Union County 4, #3 Baldwin 3 (9 innings)
Join Mike Ridaught (Play-by-play) on WUCR-FM 107.9 in Lake Butler for the Class 1A-District 6 Semifinals & match-up of two of the top five teams in the state in Class 1A. Baldwin (20-8) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after a half inning of play. However, the Tigers (17-3) rallied for two in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game 3-3 on Brooke Waters’ RBI single to right. Waters, who got the win in relief in the circle, had the game-winning RBI in the ninth on an infield hit.
