Happy New Year!
We ended 2017 with a bang, finishing the year with 28 boys basketball broadcasts over a 10-day period.
We provided free audio during the Kiwanis Christmas Tournament at Bradford High School (Starke), Dec. 21-23, and video via the NFHS Network for the 44th annual Kingdom of the Sun at Vanguard High School (Ocala).
Gainesville High won the tournament at Bradford, while Vanguard played for the Kingdom championship for the first time since 1993. Gainesville and Vanguard are 7A-District 4 rivals.
We’ll be seeing both again in 2018, as well as most teams in Alachua and Marion County, as part of our regular season broadcast schedule, including our first radio game of the new year when GHS hosts city rival Buchholz on Friday, Jan. 5. The game will be broadcast on 92.1 FM & 1230 AM in Gainesville, as well as 100.1 FM & 900 AM in Ocala.
It’s a broadcast double-header as another crew heads south to Ocala where Trinity Catholic hosts The Villages for a key Class 5A-District 5 game. The visiting Buffalo, who were in the state semifinals last year, are led by one of the top juniors in the state in Trey Mann. The game will be video streamed via the NFHS Network.
