Fort White football preview

Published:

fort white_indiansFort White Indians (Class 4A-District 2)

2013 Record:  7-2

Head Coach:  Demetric Jackson

Key Players:  Christian Helsel (TE, Sr.), Cameron White (LB, Sr.), Brason Caley (TE, Sr.), Blair Chapman (LB, Sr.), Dre Brown (OL, Sr.), Randall Fraddosio (OL, Sr.)

THE WORD:  Replacing Tavaris Williams, who set the school record with 1,819 yards rushing and scored 21 TDs, will be the biggest challenge for Fort White, which won its first district title in school history last season. Chapman returns with key offensive and defensive experience as he averaged 5.87 yards per carry on 37 carries, and he was second on the team with 102 tackles.

Chapman was also second on the team with 11 receptions, followed by Helsel who was third. The Indians will be solid defensively in the middle with the return of White, who led the team with six sacks last season.

The trip to Madison County in October will be tough, but the Indians will get their other two district games (Fernandina Beach & Pierson Taylor) at home.  That should be enough motivation to give the Indians a chance to get back in the postseason and build on last year’s championship.
